Evaluating EA Sports College Football Power Rankings 25: Who’s In, Who’s Out, and Who’s Surprising

The trail of breadcrumbs of EA Sports fueling anticipation for the release of College Football 25 continued on Friday when the developers revealed their overall power rankings of the game’s 25 teams.

This top 25 comes after EA released a list of the game’s best attacks and defenses, as well as 25 stadiums that offer visiting teams an extra challenge as they are the hardest places to play. With just three weeks until the video game returns on July 19th, we now know the 25 strongest teams the game has to offer.

Georgia, ranked No. 1 on offense, also dominates the overall list, while Ohio State ranks second with its No. 1 defense. Oregon, Alabama and Texas round out the top five, with defending national champion Michigan at No. 11 .

College Football Power Rankings 25

Who is missing?

Kansas and Tennessee should be in the top 25. They each have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball and feature young quarterbacks like Avery Johnson (K-State) and Niko Iamaleva (Tennessee), but it’s clear from EA Sports’ assessment of the team’s offense that drafters are wary of unproven quarterbacks. There’s no top-25 offense in the game, and only Kansas State’s defense is ranked 24th, so ultimately it’s no surprise that they’re outside the top 25 in the overall team rankings. I suspect the game’s first early-season update will change that.

But Missouri outside the top 25 is the strangest omission. The Tigers leaving is more surprising to me than Colorado joining. This is a top-10 team in many preseason positions. – Chris Vanini

Why is Colorado here?

Colorado appears poised to finish 16th when the preseason polls drop in August, so the Buffaloes have a slight edge. But they have Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, who will likely be the two highest-rated players at their positions in the game, which gives Colorado a boost. Speaking of strong goalies, Ole Miss should be ahead of several teams ahead of them. The Rebels have an experienced quarterback in Jackson Dart and have added a number of talents via transfers this offseason. No Missouri in the top 25 is also pretty wild, as the Tigers are coming off an 11-win season and have arguably the best receiver in college football in Luther Burden III and an experienced quarterback in Brady Cook. There is an argument to be made for them to not just be in the top 25, but in the top 15. Antonio Morais

A surprising top 10 team?

Notably, Clemson is ranked No. 6 considering Stuart Mandel ranked them No. 22 in his 25th post-spring. Not surprisingly, the Tigers had a defensive fifth to start the game. , but they are also one of the top 10 crimes. The unit returns just two All-ACC players (Jake Briningstole, offensive lineman Blake Miller) and didn’t finish in the top 50 last season. Those involved in the ranking are Cade Klubnik, Phil Mapa, Tyler Brown and the chances of winning the ACC this season are high. – Max Olson

Wisconsin picked Tyler Van Dyke in the transfer portal this offseason, and while there are upsides, I’m not sure I’m in the top 20 for the Badgers. My model has them ranked 36th on the season, and the offense will only crack the top 50. If Van Dyke plays to his potential, a top-20 pick could be possible, but his up-and-down career in Miami suggests that this is far from being the case. – Simulated Austin

The National Men’s Basketball Team decided not to participate in the preparation tournament to be held in Serbia on July 6-7.

The Turkish Basketball Federation announced that this decision was due to the high number of injured players.

Here is the statement made by the Turkish Basketball Federation;

The camp process, which we started the summer with a limited squad, continued with two more players getting injured in the double-contact match we played in France with an 11-person squad, following the recurring injuries experienced by our National Team. During this process, it was decided that our crescent-stars would not participate in the preparation tournament to be held in Serbia in order not to risk the matches we will play away due to the insufficient squad. American full-back with a Kosovar passport Dominic Artis will return to Betclic Elite for the 2024-2025 season on the SIG Strasbourg court. The Alsatian club announced the arrival of the former Cholet player on Thursday, who will be reunited with his former coach at the Mauges club, Laurent Vila.

Artis had impressed in Maine-et-Loire, becoming one of the key players during his two seasons with the squad, with performances earning him a spot in the Betclic Elite All-Star Game in the 2022-2023 season. With his 16 points, 3.4 assists and 3 rebounds on average in all competitions, Artis had managed to lead his team to the Eurocup final, just one year after having managed to allow Cholet to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. Coming off a complicated season in Turkey at Bodrumspor, Artis returns to France to try to help Strasbourg, who failed to reach the playoffs this season. “The signing of Dominic Artis is a very important element in the construction of our roster. He was really the first name we talked about with Laurent Vila when we were imagining the team for the 24/25 season. He will be our ‘go to guy’ for the season. And with his experience and toughness, he will make the work of the whole team easier. He is a true leader and we are very happy to welcome him to our team,” reacted SIG Strasbourg sporting director Nicola Alberani in a press release.
