Gunshots As Bandits Invade NSCDC Headquarters In Nasarawa

Some heavily armed bandits have staged an attack on the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Command in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.

Daily Post reports that the assailants invaded the Command’s headquarters in the early hours of Monday amid sporadic gunshots.

It was gathered that the terrorists were on a mission to free some high-profile suspected criminals in the custody of the Command.

According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Jerry Victor, the bandits invaded the Command’s headquarters with sophisticated weapons.

He said the gunmen attempted to break some part of the fence to gain entry into the offices while some of them took different positions around the building.



“The operatives of the NSCDC swiftly responded by opening fire on the hoodlums whose mission was to release some high-profile suspected criminals, including informants of kidnappers in the custody of the Command.”

He also confirmed that no casualty was recorded during the gun battle between the gunmen and the NSCDC operatives.

Bauchi Governor Swears In 21 New Judges

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, swore in six new judges to the State High Court and 15 to the Shari’a Court, on Monday, July 15.

He charged them to embody justice and fairness in their judicial responsibilities.

Highlighting the importance of the judiciary in fostering the rule of law, Governor Mohammed tasked the new appointees to serve justice without bias and adhere strictly to the principles of fairness and equity.

He remarked that the judges’ selection was due to their dedication and hard work within the legal profession.

Moreover, the governor highlighted the pressing issue of overcrowded correctional facilities in the state, calling on the judges to focus on decongesting these facilities by prioritizing cases of inmates long awaiting trial, to expedite their proceedings and ensure timely delivery of justice.

The Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Umar, responding to the governor’s charges, assured that the new judges are committed to upholding justice and fairness.

She reiterated the judiciary’s dedication to the speedy trial of cases as a measure to decongest correctional facilities, reinforcing the judiciary’s role as a beacon of hope for the populace.

Donuts filled recipe

Ingredients

For the donuts:

  • 1 medium-sized egg
  • 50g butter
  • 200g milk
  • 80g sugar
  • 500g flour
  • 8g dry baker’s yeast (or 12 g fresh yeast)
  • 1 pinch of salt

Italian diplomatic cream:

  • 300g pastry cream
  • 200 g liquid cream
  • 2 tablespoons icing sugar

Preparation 

A pastry robot:

  1. In a bowl With , pour the milk and add the baker’s yeast with a teaspoon of sugar.
  2. Mix and let stand for 10 minutes.
  3. In the bowl of the stand mixer, pour the flour, the lightly beaten egg, the melted butter, the sugar and the mixture of milk and yeast.
  4. Beat the dough vigorously for 20 minutes, until it becomes soft and elastic

By hand:

  1. In a bowl, combine the butter, egg, sugar and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add milk with baking powder and flour.
  3. Mix well and transfer everything to a lightly floured work surface.
  4. Keep kneading with your hands until you get a smooth, elastic dough.
  5. Put the dough in a bowl covered with a cloth and let rise until it has doubled in volume.
  6. My advice is to leave it in a turned off oven with the light on.
  7. After the rising time, roll out the dough into a rectangle half a centimeter thick on a lightly floured work surface.
  8. Using a cookie cutter, cut out 6cm discs.
  9. Place the donuts on a baking sheet and put a square of baking paper under each donut.
  10. This will help you pick them up without touching them with your hands once they are up, to dip them in the hot oil.
  11. Cover the donuts with a cloth and let rise another 1 hour.
  12. Meanwhile, prepare the Italian diplomat cream by mixing the pastry cream with the liquid cream whipped with the two tablespoons of icing sugar.
  13. Pour the oil into a saucepan with high edges and, once very hot, plunge the donuts (no more than 2 at a time) so as not to lower the temperature of the oil.
  14. Let rise and brown for 5 to 6 minutes per donut.
  15. To give a sweet touch to these delicious donuts
  16. Put the Italian diplomate cream in a piping bag and fill the donuts.

Pregnant Woman Reportedly Gang-r@ped By 6 Men In Nasarawa Community

A pregnant woman has been hospitalized after she was reportedly gang r@ped by a 6-man armed gang on a farm in Nasarawa State.

 

According to Nasarawa Mirror, the incident which occurred on Friday, July 12, 2024, in Kadiri, Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has left residents in a state of outrage and fear.

 

Narrating her experience, the victim said she was working with her husband on the farm when the gang suspected to be militia appeared.

 

On sighting them, they both took to their heels. However, due to her condition, she was unable to escape and fell to the ground.

 

The armed men took turns to r@pe her until she was left bleeding and barely conscious before they abandoned her.

 

She was later located with the help of her husband and rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

 

The incident has however heightened tension in the locality with concerns raised over the safety of farmers in the face of repeated attacks and assaults.

 

The community whose inhabitants are predominantly farmers, appealed to the Government to intervene swiftly and ensure that justice is served for the innocent victim.
