Chakraborty agrees that daily milk tea could make it harder to maintain a healthy weight. “Many milk teas are calorie bombs packed with sugar. Regularly drinking these can tip the scales in the wrong direction and raise your risk of health problems like type 2 diabetes.”

The sugar rush from milk tea can wreak havoc on your blood sugar levels, she informs, making them go up and down quickly. Over time, this could contribute to insulin resistance and diabetes.

The combination of sugar and fat in milk tea might encourage your body to store fat, especially around your belly.
