Euro 2024, Germany: Joshua Kimmich on the verge of leaving FC Bayern

Published

Joshua Kimmich’s time at FC Bayern is apparently over. The national player will not be offered a new contract, reports BILD. The 29-year-old’s contract is still valid for another year. It could therefore be that Kimmich will be sold this summer in order to get a transfer fee for him. Talks about this are to take place directly after the European Championships. Kimmich is a regular player under Julian Nagelsmann and will face Denmark with Germany in the round of 16 on Saturday.

The trend in the club is clear: the decided shake-up in the squad after a season without a title should also affect Kimmich. The professional is one of the players who are allowed to leave. In central midfield, he is not considered the first choice under the new coach Vincent Kompany. Joao Palhinha from Fulham FC is to be signed. Josip Stanisic, who was loaned out from Leverkusen, is returning for the full-back position.

In addition, some decision-makers at Bayern are annoyed by statements in the ZDF documentary “Leaders and Drivers” that was released during the European Championship. They feel strengthened in their view not to extend his contract. Kimmich criticized, among other things, the lack of protection during the corona pandemic when he did not get vaccinated for a long time: “The feeling of trust that I had previously had in the club has of course been destroyed.”

Kimmich himself is also said to be leaning towards a change. A possible new club could be FC Barcelona with coach Hans-Dieter Flick.

8:23 a.m.: France coach Deschamps not worried despite second place

Despite the disappointing second place after the preliminary round, France coach Didier Deschamps sees no reason for concern. “I am not disappointed at all,” said the 55-year-old after the 1-1 draw against Poland in Dortmund on Tuesday evening, which meant the title contender missed out on first place in Group D.

“We are now where we wanted to be, in the round of 16. Our group was definitely difficult. Now a new competition is practically starting,” said the French coach. “The impressions from the group stage no longer mean much in the knockout phase. Now it’s a matter of life and death. Now we have big opponents,” explained Deschamps.

The French will have to improve significantly, especially in attack, if they really want to compete for the title at the European Football Championship. The Équipe Tricolore created numerous good chances against the previously eliminated Poles, but only scored through Kylian Mbappé from the penalty spot.

7:11 a.m.: Croatia finally eliminated

Croatia’s exit is sealed. After the results in Group C on Tuesday evening, there is no longer any option for the World Cup third-place team from Qatar to make it to the round of 16. With two points and a goal difference of 3:6, the Croatians, led by football star Luka Modric, are in fifth place in the third-place rankings. An improvement on Wednesday is no longer possible.

21:35: Serbian fans arrested after attack on police officers

A few hours before the European Football Championship match between Denmark and Serbia on Tuesday evening in Munich, Serbian fans got into a fight with the police. Some men threw bottles and even a chair from an outdoor bar, said a police spokesman. Two officers were slightly injured. Three fans were provisionally arrested. They are to be brought before the investigating judge on Wednesday. There were also several complaints about the use of prohibited pyrotechnics.

According to the spokesman, the incident between fans and police officers at Marienplatz was caused by a police check. Bystanders showed solidarity with the people who were being checked and started throwing bottles. The three arrested people are now being investigated for grievous bodily harm and assault on police officers.

18:01: Füllkrug for Havertz? Klose sees no reason for a change

Despite Niclas Füllkrug’s goalscoring qualities, record goalscorer Miroslav Klose sees no need for a change in the national team’s starting line-up for the European Championship round of 16. “I’ve heard that the defense is causing problems, it’s not the attack that’s causing problems. It’s always a decision made by the coach, but I don’t think Kai Havertz has played badly,” said Klose. READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>

National coach Julian Nagelsmann had previously relied on Havertz as the central striker. The Arsenal professional scored a penalty in the opening match against Scotland. Füllkrug also contributed a goal as a substitute in the 5-1 win against the Scots and secured group victory with his late goal on Sunday against Switzerland to make it 1-1. So far, the Dortmund striker has accepted his backup role in the DFB team without complaint.

For Klose, who scored 71 goals for Germany in 137 international matches and is also the World Cup record goalscorer with 16 goals, Nagelsmann highlighted Füllkrug’s joker qualities. “It’s also important that you always have players who can come in and make a difference,” said Klose. “Everyone knows what Füllkrug can do, and I’ve said it often enough and basically talked him into the national team. Thank God he was able to confirm it now,” said Klose.

17:00: “They won’t make it,” says Holland’s coach about Germany

The Netherlands will play their last group match on Tuesday evening in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium. At 6 p.m., the Dutch will face Austria, with head coach Ralf Rangnick. The Dutch traveled from their European Championship quarters in Wolfsburg to the capital on Monday by ICE. “It was very quick with the ICE. That saves time. But with train times, you never know exactly when the trains will leave. Everything worked out on the way there,” revealed national coach Ronald Koeman.

The problem is the return journey. After 9:20 p.m. there are no direct connections that stop in Wolfsburg before midnight. Much to the annoyance of the Dutch head coach. “We won’t be able to return after the game because there are no trains that will take us to Wolfsburg,” explained Koeman. “Germany is promoting itself as hosting a sustainable European Championship. But they aren’t managing it.”

The Dutch team will be taking a somewhat sustainable route back to the team’s Ritz-Carlton quarters in Wolfsburg by bus instead of train. The journey will take around three hours. The outward journey on the ICE took just 90 minutes.

15:40: Hungary’s Varga receives a sick visit

Two days after his violent collision in the European Championship match against Scotland, Barnabás Varga received a visit from the coaching staff of the Hungarian national football team and teammate Endre Botka at the Stuttgart hospital. Coach Marco Rossi and some of his staff conveyed get-well wishes from the entire team, as the association announced on Tuesday on the X platform. In the photo uploaded to the post, Varga looked into the camera with his thumb raised.

He suffered facial injuries after a collision with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn in the penalty area and was treated under a screen. The game was interrupted for several minutes. On Monday, the Ferencváros Budapest striker underwent surgery for several fractures of his cheekbone.

15:15: Georgia star hopes for Cristiano Ronaldo jersey

The European Championship match against Portugal is an absolute highlight for Georgia’s football star Khvisha Kwaratschelia. “I’m a little nervous. I’ve always dreamed of playing against Cristiano Ronaldo,” said the SSC Naples attacker before the final group match against the Portuguese on Wednesday in Gelsenkirchen (9 p.m./RTL and MagentaTV). He also revealed his greatest wish besides a win. “I hope that I can get Ronaldo’s shirt afterwards,” said the 23-year-old on Tuesday.

Published

The National Men’s Basketball Team decided not to participate in the preparation tournament to be held in Serbia on July 6-7.

The Turkish Basketball Federation announced that this decision was due to the high number of injured players.

Here is the statement made by the Turkish Basketball Federation;

The camp process, which we started the summer with a limited squad, continued with two more players getting injured in the double-contact match we played in France with an 11-person squad, following the recurring injuries experienced by our National Team. During this process, it was decided that our crescent-stars would not participate in the preparation tournament to be held in Serbia in order not to risk the matches we will play away due to the insufficient squad.
