Biography

Anna Kalinskaya is a Russian tennis player known internationally for her numerous victories in singles and doubles. Anna Nikolajevna Kalinskaja was born on December 2, 1998 in Moscow, Russia, to parents who are two former professional badminton athletes. She grew up in a family passionate about sports and began playing tennis as a child. At the age of 14, she moved to the United States to devote herself to the discipline at a competitive level and before returning to Russia, she also spent a period at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in France.

In the junior category, Anna Kalinskaya won a total of 16 titles, 8 of which as singles and the rest in doubles. The most important achievement in this category was achieved in 2016 when at the Australian Open she won the podium in women’s doubles playing in a pair with Tereza Mihalíková. She then left the junior category and in April of the same year she won the first ITF title of her career, namely within the Women’s World Tennis Tour, and also ranked among the top 200 tennis players globally. In 2019 she won a WTA title of the Women’s Tennis Association for the first time, winning a doubles match together with Viktoria Kuzmova.

After 3 WTA victories in doubles in 2023 Anna Kalinskaya manages to win her first WTA singles title. In the same year she took a break from tennis to recover from various injuries and by the end of 2023 she reached 77th place among female players worldwide. In 2024 she reaches the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and during the year she is ranked 17th in the women’s world rankings.

Private life

Anna Kalinskaya’s first story that captures the attention of the international media is the one with Nick Kyrgios, an Australian tennis player of Greek and Malaysian origins who she dates for a short period in 2020. She subsequently has a flirtation with the German tennis player Sami Reinwein and in May 2024 the champion gets engaged to another famous colleague, Jannik Sinner, the Italian winner of the Australian Open. Confirming the relationship after numerous rumors is Sinner who during a press conference admits “Yes, I’m with Anna, but we keep everything very confidential”.

Halftime show: Fifa is planning an event like in football at the next World Cup final

In American football, the halftime show has long been part of the event. Appearances during the break have not been an issue in football so far – but that will change at the next World Cup.

Anyone who goes to the toilet or refills chips during half-time at the next World Cup final will miss something: As the world football association Fifa announces, from the next World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico there will be a half-time show in the final. What exactly the association is planning is still very vaguely worded in the announcement. FIFA is probably planning a musical performance modeled on the Superbowl in American football: This so-called half time show is probably the biggest stage that musicians have had so far. In recent years, megastars such as Coldplay, Rihanna and Bruno Mars have appeared at halftime.

FIFA wants to organize a halftime show together with an aid organization

“Eventization” of football is met with rejection in Germany
