Garbage Man Adopts Blind Baby Left in Dumpster; 23 Years Later, Boy Owns Million-Dollar Company
A blind baby abandoned and discovered next to a garbage is adopted by a trashman who is attempting to raise his twin kids on his own. “Is your ‘other man’ their father? How could you do this to me, Sarah? Tell me the truth….” Bob had argued, and Sarah’s reply shattered him.
She confirmed that Kara and Christie were not Sarah’s affair partner’s children. They were born to another guy, with whom she had an affair two years after her marriage to Bob.
When Bob asked her why she cheated on him, she said: “Because you scavenge the dumpsters for a living, and I’m ashamed to say you’re my husband. I want a rich life which you cannot afford.”
On Sam’s sixth birthday, Bob gave her a book. “What is this, daddy?” Sam asked. “It feels so strange to touch.”
Bob was beyond broken. It took him nine years to learn that his adored and worshipped wife was unhappy with him, even though he believed he was having a beautiful life with Sarah. Bob knew he couldn’t live without his daughters, but he couldn’t look at them the same way.
“Are you taking the children with you?” he asked Sarah the day they divorced.
“Why would I take the kids with me when I’m going to marry someone else? You can raise them if you want because their biological father died years ago,” she said without hesitation. Then she left, and Bob never saw her again.
Despite his unwillingness to face the fact that his wife was no longer with him, Bob forced himself to raise his girls. It seems to him that fate was beckoning him to do this.
Regardless of the hurdles, he fought to make his girls happy. He had no idea there would be a new addition, so he assumed they were his entire world.
Bob once came upon a sobbing abandoned infant boy near a dumpster while picking up rubbish. “A baby?” he questioned as he approached the tiny toddler.
He looked around and noticed that nobody was there. He bent down and examined the baby’s carrier, discovering a letter that read: “To whoever finds this blind baby, please take care of him.”
Bob was astonished. “How could someone do this to an infant?” He picked up the baby and cuddled him. The infant continued to cry and wriggled his fragile hands, trying to feel the person holding him. He kicks and screams.
Bob soothed the child and took him home to feed him warm milk before phoning child services. “I found him by the dumpster,” he told police.
Later, the baby boy was transported to the hospital, where his blindness was confirmed. Bob’s heart went out to the helpless young child, and he decided to adopt him. “If I can raise two daughters by myself, I can certainly raise him too,” he thought. Six months later, Bob legally adopted the infant and brought him home. “He’s your new baby brother, Sam… What do you think?!” He introduced the baby to his daughters.
Bob was first doubtful of the challenges that lay ahead of him. He did his best to make Sam feel loved, even though he knew he would need extra care and attention because he was blind.
Bob learned about the boy’s specific interest after seven years.
“….And then the princess escaped from the tower….” Bob would read bedtime stories to a giggling Sam, who would imagine a beautiful princess confined in a massive tower and a handsome prince meeting her discreetly every night. Sam adored listening to such bedtime stories and never slept without them.
On Sam’s sixth birthday, Bob gave her a book. “What is this, daddy?” Sam asked. “It feels so strange to touch.”
“It’s a Braille book. You must feel the raised dots and slowly follow them with your fingers. They will help you read and learn,” answered Bob, who gently taught Sam how to utilize the book over the next few weeks.
Bob purchased a few Braille books for Sam every two months. Bob would have to make some sacrifices to provide them for his son, as they were expensive.
After twenty years, Sam was able to read and write comfortably. He created a tiny publishing firm and decided to help the blind. Bob helped him purchase the supplies he needed to get things started using money he had saved for his daughters’ weddings.
Sam’s business began to grow over time. With his newfound affluence, he was able to enhance his family’s living conditions while still contributing to society.
Three years later, Sam controlled a large publishing company dedicated to teaching blind people to read and write. His enterprise generated millions of dollars in income. With his first million dollars, he relocated to a big mansion with his sisters and adoptive father.
Sam wasn’t Bob’s real kid, but he nonetheless made him proud in every way. He repeatedly asserted in interviews that he was aware of his adoption:
What can we learn from this story?
- Kindness can transform a person’s life into what they deserve. Despite his difficulties as a single father, Bob took in an abandoned blind baby beside the dumpster and adopted him. Bob’s kindness helped the youngster have a successful and productive future.
- Parents are people who go above and above to raise their children, not just those who give them birth. Sam knew he was Bob’s adoptive son, but he never regretted it. He was proud of his father and grateful to fate for guiding him to a loving household after his parents abandoned him.
