17-year-old youth leader Zhang Zhijie dies… China Badminton Federation mourns the loss of a talented player A teenage national team player, considered a promising player in the Chinese badminton world, collapsed on the court during an international competition held in Indonesia and was taken to the hospital, but eventually died, Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) and AFP News agencies reported on the 1st.

Zhang Zhijie (張志杰, 17), a Chinese national men’s singles player, was competing in the group stage of the mixed team event at the 2024 Asian Youth Badminton Championships being held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia the previous evening (local time).

He suddenly collapsed on the court while tied 11-11 in the first set against Japan’s Kazuma Kawano.

Medical staff immediately arrived at the scene and he was taken to hospital by ambulance within minutes, but he never recovered and was pronounced dead at 11:20 p.m. local time, SCMP reported.

According to Chinese media, Zhang Zhijie, born in 2007, won the men’s singles and men’s team events at the National Youth Badminton Championships last year, and was selected as a youth representative last year, where he won the Netherlands Youth Badminton Championships this year.

The Asian Badminton Federation, the Indonesian Badminton Association, and the Asian Youth Badminton Championships Organizing Committee jointly released a statement saying, “The world badminton world has lost a talented player,” and expressed deep condolences to Zhang’s parents and family and the China Badminton Association. He said he would.

Turkish National Men’s Basketball Team Withdraws from Serbia Tournament Due to Injuries

The National Men’s Basketball Team decided not to participate in the preparation tournament to be held in Serbia on July 6-7.

The Turkish Basketball Federation announced that this decision was due to the high number of injured players.

The camp process, which we started the summer with a limited squad, continued with two more players getting injured in the double-contact match we played in France with an 11-person squad, following the recurring injuries experienced by our National Team.
