Communication with the boat was lost while five Ittihad Tangier players, including a first-team member and several hopefuls, were on board.

According to local media Le360, the passengers jumped into the water to swim, and strong winds then pushed the yacht away from the water. The Royal Gendarmerie and the Royal Navy managed to save three players, found more than 800 meters from the shore after an hour and a half of searching. Two other people are still missing.
