President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the Ministry of Livestock Development to find a lasting solution to the frequent herder-farmer clashes in different parts of the country.

The ministry’s creation was announced during the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Livestock Reform Implementation Committee.

Present at the Inauguration were the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, amongst other cabinet members. READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>

Recall that President Tinubu in September, 2023, approved the establishment of the Presidential Committee dedicated to the reform of the livestock industry and the provision of long-term solutions to recurring clashes between herders and farmers in the country.

This followed the submission of a report from the National Conference on Livestock Reforms and Mitigation of Associated Conflicts in Nigeria. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) had tasked the president to create livestock ministry.

Alhaji Baba Usman Ngelzarma, MACBAN president, made the demand last month, saying pastoralists were looking for the creation of a full-blown ministry for livestock.

‘‘The entire livestock value chain issues can be addressed holistically rather than what is going on now at the National Assembly, working to create a bill for Animal Husbandry or Ranching. Ranching is just an aspect of livestock instead of going for ranching why can’t the president create a pool-blown ministry for livestock so that all the value chain related to livestock issues can be addressed holistically by that ministry? Issues of production, processing, marketing, transportation even security related issues can be addressed if there is a ministry dedicated for that purpose,’’ Ngelzarma had said.

Casey King, from Georgia, USA, had love for food in childhood. This, however, led to him being overweight and a target for teasing throughout his school years. Despite initially unbothered, the constant ridicule eventually caused Casey to withdraw and isolate himself.

Because of prioritizing his love for unhealthy food over a healthy weight, Casey’s weight ballooned to over 290 lbs by the end of high school. He found a part-time job at a cafe, yet ended up indulging in discounted leftover food each night. By his early twenties, Casey’s weight surpassed 440 lbs , significantly impacting his mobility. He quit his job and spent the next 15 years virtually confined to his room, playing video games and relying on his father for food.

A turning point arrived in 2018 when his nephew, Thomas, was born. Yearning to play with his uncle, Thomas’s enthusiasm highlighted Casey’s limitations. This realization prompted him to commit to a dramatic lifestyle change. He gradually eliminated unhealthy food and in September 2018 he underwent gastric surgery. Casey’s story caught the media’s attention, and he was invited on a weight loss reality show. Surrounded by a team of professionals, Casey shed nearly 40 kilograms within the first three months through dedicated training and a personalized diet.

Today, at 39 years old, Casey maintains a weight of 240 lbs , with a remaining 15kg attributed to excess skin. Over the past six years, his total weight loss exceeds a staggering 580 lbs . While the reality show provided the initial push, Casey’s remarkable progress is a testament to his daily hard work, unwavering determination, and sheer willpower. A family of nine from Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, witnessed their dream Alaskan vacation turn into a nightmare after their cruise liner left them stranded due to a bus mix-up. Things only got worse when the trio of adventurers were fined an eye-watering $9,000 the next day.

Caitlyn and Joshua Gault, parents of six, and grandma Sharron McElmurry made a combined Facebook post on Sunday (July 14), revealing how Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) had left their group behind in Ketchikan, Alaska, while on a liner-sponsored excursion.

An Oklahoma family of nine’s Alaskan dream trip turned into a nightmare when their cruise ship left them stranded.

The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show, according to NCL, has the world’s greatest lumberjacks competing “in exciting events such as chopping, sawing, relay races, axe throwing, log rolling, and of course the 50-foot speed climb.”

Tickets for the concert are roughly $90.

“We see the chaos getting onto the buses,” Joshua told the Oklahoma-based broadcaster. “We go to get on the bus and one of the attendees is like ‘The bus is full, and you know you got to wait for the next bus.’”

On their shared Facebook post, the family recalled: “We contacted the port authority to inform them that we had been left behind by the excursion operator, and they dispatched a vehicle to pick up all nine of us at the authorized pick-up site, where we had been waiting since the last full bus left.

“Just minutes from port, our driver got a call that the ship refused to wait and pulled the gangway.”

Parents-of-six Caitlyn, Joshua Gault, and grandma Sharron McElmurry wrote a united post about their ordeal.

Some of the family’s passports were missing, so the nine members were unable to meet the ship at the next port in Canada.

“NCL has told us to save receipts for reimbursement but has not assisted with the financial and logistical challenges, of which are significant traveling so many people, six of which are minor children,” the family stated in a joint posting to Facebook.

The family paid for everything, including “all the flights for nine people, all the food for nine people, and all the hotel stays,” Joshua informed the local media.

The family was left stranded following a bus mix-up and fined nearly $9,000 the following day

He said: “So yeah, we’re beat down right now. We’re unhealthy and beaten down.” NCL has since confirmed that it was a local tour operator’s misstep that was responsible for the family being left stranded in Ketchikan.

Nevertheless, NCL claimed that they had attempted to contact the family when they did not return to the ship. “We alerted the local port agent in Ketchikan and requested that they assist the family with booking a hotel for the night,” NCL said in a statement to KJRH-TV.

As per the cruise business, the port agent helped the family secure flights to Seattle the day following the incident after they were unable to downline in the next port of call, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

“I’d be getting a lawyer,” one reader commented.
