Onesimus Omusula Kipchumba Murkomen was born 12 March 1979 is a Kenyan lawyer. He is a former Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport, and Public Works in Kenya.
He is the son of Johana Murkomen Kanda and Mama Margaret. Murkomen studied at Chawis Primary School in Embobut Forest, Marakwet East until 1993 when he sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam. On 11th of July 2024, together with his fellow CSs, Ruto send them to their families. During his tenure as CS Roads, Transport and Public Works, he was well known for flaunting wads of cash from very questionable sources and abhorrent public displays of opulence coupled with arrogance which evidently led to his dismissal on 11 July 2024.He will not be missed by many except for the player.
Murkomen was first elected Senator for Elgeyo-Marakwet in 2013 on a United Republican Party (URP) ticket upon the actualization of the 2010 Constitution and the institution of a bicameral Parliament.
Murkomen has had a political roller coaster of a year. He lost his Senate Majority Leader’s position in May but he was not one to let go easily. His bold challenge of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s changes signalled his growth as a politician and the close support he enjoys among his colleagues.Apart from politics is a family man. Murkomen is married to Gladys Wanjiru Kipchumba and is a father to three sons and a daughter.
Wanjiru is a lawyer by profession, just like her husband. The two graduated together with law degrees from the University of Nairobi in 2005.The former CS has often heaped praise on his wife, stating that she has cushioned the family from his busy schedule.
