The Summer Olympics are back! After a strange Tokyo 2020 Olympics — which were actually held in 2021 and did not feature large crowds of spectators due to Covid restrictions — we are returning to the relative normality of the over-the-top, in-person spectacles of the past Olympics.
The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris. The Olympics start this Friday, July 26(Technically there are a few events before the opening ceremony, but we’ll get to those in a minute.) The Games will run every day for just over two weeks, with the closing ceremony taking place on August 11.

Basketball
There will be plenty of basketball this year. Games begin on July 27. The U.S. men’s team, the so-called Dream Team, makes its debut on July 28. The gold medal games will be on August 10 for the men and August 11 for the women.
Nautical sports
- Remo: The men’s and women’s singles, doubles and quadruple rowing heats begin on 27 July. Medal matches take place between 29 July and 2 August.
