Pregnancy is an individual event, not one that is spread around like something contagious – but at Maine Medical Center, it sure looks like it might be!
A grand total of nine nurses at this hospital are boasting that pregnancy glow.
It’s definitely an unusual situation. What are the chances?
But if you thought this was just some tall tale, you thought wrong, as there is photo evidence of these lovely ladies all lined up and proudly presenting their baby bumps for the camera.
Dealing with pregnancy and all its symptoms while working is no easy task, and these women say it’s truly comforting and enjoyable to be surrounded by so many other people in the same boat.
Some have enjoyed watching their colleagues’ bumps grow with theirs, and it’s just nice to share experiences and see others at similar stages of pregnancy.
It was definitely surreal at first when every new day brought a new pregnancy announcement from one of them, and they took to saying “We’re pregnant!” when revealing their news.
After all, they plan to be there for each other throughout all their pregnancies, and they got very excited with each new announcement.
This doesn’t mean they make split second decisions – it means that, if plans to have a baby are already in the future, they are more likely to start trying for one when they see other people’s pregnancies and babies.
This could explain how all nine nurses caught baby fever at the same time!
All nine women want to be able to be there for one another when their due date arrives.
Of course, that may prove easier said than done, since so many of them may wind up having their babies simultaneously.
Still, given the nature of their work, they’re more than ready to take on the challenge.
Of course, people are joking that there may not be any nurses to deliver anyone’s baby during those months, and some wonder how much their employers are pulling their hair out over losing nine people to maternity leave.
The good news is that these 9 are just a few of the 80 nurses who work at the unit, so the hospital has it covered, even if it will be a little busier than usual.
The photo of eight of these nurses – one holding an extra due date card for the ninth nurse, who is not pictured – has since gone viral on Facebook.
It was shared more than 2,000 times – a real shock for the nurses who had no idea it would get any attention at all.
Now, they don’t just have each other – they have the Internet cheering them on, too!
