Paris 2024 Olympics: “I felt my baby kick” before making a 10, the joy of a pregnant archer

She got a little helping hand, or rather a kick. Yaylagul Ramazanova, a 34-year-old Azerbaijani archer, is six and a half months pregnant. But that doesn’t stop her from competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her baby reportedly even helped her during the round of 32 of the women’s individual event on Wednesday.

“I felt my baby kick me before I shot that last arrow, and then I shot a 10,” the archer told China’s Xinhua news agency. “During my preparation for the Olympics, I didn’t feel uncomfortable because of my pregnancy. On the contrary, I felt that I wasn’t fighting alone, but fighting with my baby.”

A saving shot that allowed Yaylagul Ramazanova to defeat the Chinese An Qixuan in these 32nd finals, at the end of a very tight duel. The two women, while the score was 5-5, had to decide with a final arrow. The Azerbaijani therefore managed a 10, while her competitor had to settle for a 9.

In the end, Yaylagul Ramazanova was eliminated in the next round, against Germany’s Michelle Kroppen. But she was positive after this Olympic tournament: “I wanted to get a medal. All athletes want it, but not all of them can. It doesn’t matter as long as I did my best. Egyptian fencer hides pregnancy

On Tuesday, Egyptian sabre fencer Nada Hafez revealed that she was 7 months pregnant after being eliminated in the round of 16 against South Korea’s Jeon Ha-Young. She had hidden her pregnancy, including from her coach, in order to be sure she could participate in the Olympic Games.

“My baby and I have had our fair share of challenges, both physical and emotional,” she wrote on Instagram. “The rollercoaster of pregnancy is hard enough to handle, but having to fight to balance life and sport was truly challenging, even though it was worth it. I am writing this post to say that I am so proud to have secured my spot in the round of 16!”

A young badminton player realizes his deceased father’s dream

Gautham Sumesh has been playing badminton since he was old enough to handle a racket. The first time he managed to beat his father, Sumesh Pulavathil, he was offered a drink to celebrate the event.

Despite the tragedy, the teenager continues to carry his family’s dreams: Gautham Sumesh won the provincial championships this year and is preparing to participate in the National Championship in New Brunswick.
