Dog Owner Erects Sign After Car Hits His Pet, But Not Everyone Approves

Quite the powerful picture is grabbing a ton of attention after a family lost their dog because of a careless driver. After the horrifying incident, a sign was erected that left the entire neighborhood talking, and not everyone approves. You decide: Is his message appropriate?

Kevin Jackman grew quite tired of seeing people whiz by his home in Middletown, New Jersey, despite knowing that children lived and often played in the neighborhood. The concerned resident had had enough of the reckless behavior. So, in an attempt to put an end to it, he erected a sign that garnered its fair share of attention…Click Here To Continue Reading>> …Click Here To Continue Reading>>

The sign appeared on Duchess Avenue, a side road “which residents say is blocked from Route 36 and can become busy as drivers cut through to beat the traffic,” News 12 New Jersey explained. Jackman was frustrated with inpatient drivers using the side street and cruising through the neighborhood at dangerous speeds in their attempts to get around the congested traffic on the busier road.

Recognizing the potential for someone to get hurt, Jackson erected his bold message, which he hoped would leave passersby hitting the brakes. The eye-opening sign warns drivers to slow down. “My dog was struck last week because you won’t slow down. If you hit a kid, your family will be burying you,” it reads.

Jackman said he got the idea after he saw a similar message on social media. Indeed, signs like Kevin Jackman’s have surfaced before. Clearly upset and downright fed-up, one homeowner also decided to do something about the cars whizzing by their home. A photo of the sign was posted to Reddit with a caption simply reading, “This sign in my neighborhood.”

Similar to Kevin Jackman’s sign, this one read, “We buried our dog last week because you won’t SLOW DOWN. If you hit 1 of my kids your family may be burying you.” The image quickly went viral, but not everyone approved. Instead, it fueled a heated debate among commenters, according to The Blaze. While some were quick to lend their support to the sign’s sentiments, others pointed out what they thought was a glaring problem that was being ignored. Quite a few felt the issue was the dog owner not having their dog on a leash. “Am I the only one who doesn’t like people who won’t keep their dog contained in their yard and then [get] upset that their dog is endangered?” one user asked, according to the Mirror. But, others stated that people shouldn’t be driving that fast in a residential area in the first place.

“A person should NEVER be going fast enough in a residential area that a dog can’t simply avoid you,” a commenter wrote. Indeed, we should observe our speed and adjust it to prepare for unexpected surprises, especially when the simple act of slowing down can save a life.

Do you think hitting a dog would be a tough pill to swallow? Imagine living with the guilt of killing someone’s child because you thought you could shave a few extra seconds off your travel time.

No one wants to be the driver who killed a family pet, let alone a child, all because we were in a hurry. So, sometimes, we need tough reminders not to be so consumed by our own lives that we forget to watch out for others. Safety always needs to come before our convenience, especially when children are involved.

Arriving an extra minute later isn’t going to kill anyone. On the other hand, a few extra miles-per-hour could. Be smart and courteous — it could end up saving a life, whether you realize it or not.

Your Cooking Gas Can Last Long With These Simple Methods, Apply The Steps Below

Published

With the rising cost of living, saving on household expenses has become more important than ever. One major area where Kenyan households can cut costs is on cooking gas (LPG). Whether you use a 6kg or 13kg gas cylinder, simple adjustments in your daily cooking routine can help your gas last longer and save you money in the long run. Here are practical methods to help extend the life of your cooking gas:

1. Use the Right Cooking Pots

Always use flat-bottomed and well-fitting pots with lids. A flat base ensures maximum contact with the burner, making heating more efficient. Lids trap heat and allow food to cook faster, reducing the amount of gas needed. Avoid using small pots on large burners, as a lot of heat escapes around the sides, wasting gas…Click Here To Continue Reading>> …Click Here To Continue Reading>>

2. Prepare Everything Before Turning on the Gas

Many people waste gas by turning it on before preparing ingredients. Chop your onions, tomatoes, vegetables, and meat before lighting the burner. Once everything is ready, the cooking process will be faster, and your gas will last longer.

3. Use Low Flame When Necessarily

Not all meals require high flame. Cooking on medium or low heat is often sufficient and reduces gas consumption significantly. High flames tend to waste gas because much of the heat escapes without being absorbed by the pot.

4. Clean the Burner Regularly

A clogged or dirty burner produces a yellow flame, which is less efficient and uses more gas. A clean burner gives a blue flame, which is hotter and more energy-efficient. Clean your burner holes with a pin or a wire brush to maintain proper flame quality.

5. Switch Off the Gas When Not in Use READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>

Even a few seconds of wasted gas adds up over time. Always ensure you turn off the gas immediately after cooking. Also, make it a habit to check the regulator and hose for leaks, which can slowly waste gas without you noticing.

6. Cook More Than One Meal at a Time

If possible, cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner in one session. Reheating meals uses less gas than cooking from scratch each time. This method also saves time and reduces your overall daily gas usage.

7. Use a Pressure Cooker

Pressure cookers trap steam and cook food much faster than regular pots, especially when preparing beans, maize, or meat. This drastically reduces the amount of gas needed for such meals.

8. Use Wind Guards or Shields

Cooking in a windy place can lead to heat loss, requiring more gas to maintain the cooking temperature. Using wind shields around the stove or cooking in a sheltered area helps conserve heat and saves gas.

Conclusion

By adopting these simple yet effective strategies, you can extend the lifespan of your cooking gas and reduce household expenses. Efficient cooking habits, proper kitchen equipment, and routine maintenance of your gas stove all contribute to better gas economy. Make these steps part of your daily routine and enjoy longer-lasting gas and more savings.

The mother told investigators that she believes medication may have played a role in the tragedy. Prosecutors also said that her mother has not made public what that medication was. If she is found guilty or stipulates, she will likely be sentenced to time in a juvenile facility. Her sentence according to officials will be focused on rehabilitation.

A fundraising page organized by family friends described April’s daughter as a well behaved child with no prior history of behavioral problems.

Told the girl’s mother at the time, ‘I’m very supportive of her and love her very much. They were good kids… they were raised as God fearing children and never had behavioral issues until she was put back on a medication she was off for over a year,’ she said.

She did not specify what type of medication the girl was taking but said, ‘no it wasn’t psych meds’.
