As the Air Force wing of the Kenya Defence Forces was reestablished, he became the Chief of logistics. In 1989, he succeeded Major General Dedan Gichuru as Kenya Air Force Commander. He served in the position until 1994.

He retired from the military in 1994 and was succeeded by Lieutenant General Nick Leshan, who would go on to become the Vice Chief of Defence Forces under General ( Rtd) Joseph Kibwana.

His bitter divorce with his first wife would overshadow all his success in the military where he had served for almost three decades.

After that nasty break-up with his wife, the former Kenya Air Force Commander would go on to pull a surprise by marrying his house girl.

The first wife would go on to flee with her children and settled in the USA. As for the former General, his later life was not as rosy as he would have expected.

The former Kenya Air Force Commander died in 2018 while in his 70s with his special place in the history of the KDF well reserved.
