FIBA instructor (in black) Nour Amir explaining to the children.
The sixth mini-basketball forum organized by the Malagasy Basketball Federation, in collaboration with the FIBA Foundation and FIBA Africa, began yesterday at the Barea Mahamasina stadium.
Under the supervision of two FIBA instructors, Moroccan Nour Amir and Spaniard Guillermo Calvo, three hundred and sixty-five young players from all over the Big Island, as well as forty-eight coaches from fifteen African countries and Madagascar, are motivated by the desire to learn for the young apprentices and that of transmitting and deepening the experiences for each coach during the four days of the forum.
Onja Soloharinivo, president of the mini-basketball commission at the Malagasy Basketball Federation (FMBB), explained that “the first day went well. The objective for the organizer is to teach the young apprentices the basics and fundamentals of basketball. The majority of these young people are having their first experience in a camp like this. With these young people, I dare say that Malagasy basketball already has a future.”
The first day of the mini-basketball forum focused on teaching the fundamentals: how to play basketball, how to lead an offense, how to shoot and defend.
Very receptive
The young apprentices, divided into several groups under the direction of two or one coach, after a brief theory, immediately applied themselves in practice for a duration of 10 to 15 minutes.
Learning is done through play and given the involvement of the young apprentices, the current passes quickly and the young people are very receptive. The language barrier does not even arise because the foreign instructors and coaches express themselves in a simple way while transmitting their experiences. FIBA expert and event director Nour Amir explained that “it is a forum of mini-
basketball, which brought together several components, namely the children of course, the trainers, the coaches and the organizer. The basic idea is that the forum is inclusive: how to train the children, how to transmit the experience to the children. At first glance, the children have good technical bases. Some are very advanced compared to the others given their age. READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
