Kevin Serna’s Value Soars at Alianza Lima: Possible Move to Europe?

Published

Beyond having been far behind in the fight for the Apertura Tournament and not making it to the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, Kevin Serna was one of the footballers whose value rose the most in recent weeks at Alianza Lima. His speed, dribbling as well as his goal rate (3 so far this year) allowed his value to rise from one million to 2.5 million dollars in total. And, of course, having scored twice against Fluminense also allows for a possible jump from Liga 1 to the ‘Old Continent’, in the middle of the European transfer market.

According to Depor, a club from Turkey showed interest in the Colombian, so a possible move to Europe cannot be ruled out yet. Meanwhile, in Argentina there was another club that sought the player, but the situation did not advance due to the issue of the foreigner’s quota. Currently, there are inquiries from scouts and businessmen from around the world, as there always are, but nothing concrete at the moment.

And beyond the fact that every footballer is excited about a big contract in his career, the truth is that Alianza Lima’s number ’26’ is happy at the La Victoria club and wants to be a national champion along with all his teammates. Serna has been training with the rest of his teammates at the Esther Grande de Bentín, in Lurín, awaiting the debut of the white and blue team in the Clausura Tournament.

In this second stage of Liga 1, the national teams have the mission of arriving in optimal conditions, and Alianza Lima and Sport Boys do not want to be left behind. For this reason, both teams scheduled a friendly match in preparation.

The clash between the blue and whites and the pinks will take place on Saturday, July 6 at 3:30 pm, at the Miguel Grau stadium in Callao. In addition, according to what Depor was able to find out, the match will be played with both fan bases, in what will be a real party.

Bascco Soyer with offers

On the other hand, also in the intimate shop, the few opportunities to play for any footballer will be a powerful reason to start looking at new horizons. That may be the case of Bascco Soyer, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder who debuted in July of last year, but who -for now- does not have the expected minutes with Alejandro Restrepo.

In 2023, the U20 team played four games, for a total of 58 minutes. In that sense, the footballer’s entourage believed that ‘El Potrillo’ would have more playing time this year, but he was not in the coach’s plans for the Apertura Tournament and probably will not be for this last stretch either, given the club’s ambitions to want to take the title to be in the final. Depor also learned that the ‘jewel’ has offers from abroad and that there is still no negotiation with the club for the renewal of his contract, which ends in June 2025. Last Tuesday, the U20 joined the squad in Lurín and Alejandro Restrepo will see if he takes him into account or not.

When does the Liga 1 Clausura Tournament start?

As for Liga 1, the match that will kick off the Clausura Tournament will be Unión Comercio vs. Los Chankas, on Friday, July 12. This match, at the Carlos Vidaurre García Stadium in Tarapoto, promises to be intense and back-and-forth. On the same day, Deportivo Garcilaso will face UTC de Cajamarca and ADT will host Sporting Cristal. On Saturday, July 13, the giants of Peruvian soccer will make their debut: Universitario de Deportes will clash with Carlos A. Mannucci at the Monumental Stadium.

Meanwhile, Alianza Lima will visit Universidad César Vallejo at the Mansiche stadium. The intimates, motivated by the start of the tournament and the need to redeem themselves, will go all out to fight for the national title at the end of the year.

The first matchday will conclude on Sunday, with three matches: Alianza Atlético will play against Atlético Grau, while Cusco FC will host Melgar. Finally, Sport Boys will face Sport Huancayo, thus closing a weekend full of football.

Halftime show: Fifa is planning an event like in football at the next World Cup final

Published

In American football, the halftime show has long been part of the event. Appearances during the break have not been an issue in football so far – but that will change at the next World Cup.

Anyone who goes to the toilet or refills chips during half-time at the next World Cup final will miss something: As the world football association Fifa announces, from the next World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico there will be a half-time show in the final. What exactly the association is planning is still very vaguely worded in the announcement. FIFA is probably planning a musical performance modeled on the Superbowl in American football: This so-called half time show is probably the biggest stage that musicians have had so far. In recent years, megastars such as Coldplay, Rihanna and Bruno Mars have appeared at halftime.

FIFA wants to organize a halftime show together with an aid organization

Global Citizen acts as co-organizer. The aid organization is committed to combating extreme poverty around the world. “FIFA has made it its mission to promote football in all countries of the world and thereby have a positive influence on society,” explains the controversial FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Through this partnership, FIFA, together with Global Citizen, will unite the world of sports and entertainment to actively contribute to a better world. “We are committed to a series of joint actions that promote access to the game and encourage fans to advocate for positive change in their local communities,” Infantino continued. However, the association leaves it open exactly how a halftime show during the World Cup final should support Global Citizen or combat poverty in the world. “Eventization” of football is met with rejection in Germany

If FIFA presents an act as big as the NFL at the Superbowl, the football halftime show would actually immediately be in the same league as its US counterparts. In the USA, the show is one of the absolute highlights of the football final. It remains to be seen whether such a show will be received so positively by football fans who are more used to a simpler presentation of their sport.

In Europe and especially in Germany, the organized fan scene is extremely critical of the additional commercialization and “eventization” of sport. A resonant example is Helene Fischer’s act before the 2017 DFB Cup final. The artist was booed so mercilessly and loudly during her short appearance that her singing on the television was difficult to understand at times.

Difficult to find two courses as dissimilar as those of Ugo Humbert and Arthur Fils at the ATP 500 in Tokyo, but the rectilinear trajectory of the first will still cross the fractured line of the second, in the final, this Tuesday. Despite losing his first set of the week, Humbert (19th in the world) qualified without too much difficulty by beating Tomas Machac (54th) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. After having fought like a madman to eliminate Taylor Fritz and especially Ben Shelton, Son went through two tie-breaks with forceps to subdue Holger Rune. One wanders, the other suffers, but we will be treated to a happy ending. Even with a seven-hour time difference with France, this is a pleasure that we won’t shy away from.
