After the knockout in game 1, San Marino bounces back in style, signing two victories over BSC Grosseto on Saturday in Serravalle (11-7; 11-5) and flying to the solitary first place at the top of the rankings.

Pascoli and Kourtis are the winners of the two games, but this time the batters take the stage with home runs.

There are five homers in a few hours: one for Angulo, Alvarez and Celli, while two for Tromp and one of these is a grand slam.

WE ARE 2 – The team finds the attack again after a complicated game 1 and ends up winning 11-7, collecting 14 hits against the 11 from Grosseto.

San Marino goes ahead, hitting the double with Diaz in the 2nd, the single with Celli, the 1-0 on a wild pitch and the 2-0 on Di Fabio’s hit. Grosseto, after coming close to scoring in the first two innings, does so in the third and surpasses. With two outs and the man on first, Aloma earns a base ball and Mercuri, immediately after, hits double the tie (2-2). On the momentum, here is also Giordani’s valid 3-2.

In the bottom half, Alvarez’s bases-full single brings the points to 4-3, while in the 4th the BSC goes to 4-4 with hits from Sellaroli and Leonora. It’s a continuous back and forth, but when the players change sides the San Marino move is energetic. The game changes with a home run, the three-run homer from Angulo. It’s 7-4 San Marino, with the advantage even doubling in the 5th with hits from Pieternella, Lopez, Di Fabio (8-4), a wild throw (9-4) and Ferrini’s sprint (10-4).

The match is well directed, but BSC tries everything and halves the deficit thanks to Aloma’s three-run home run in the 6th (7-10). Alvarez hits a solo homer to make it 11-7 and in the final, Pascoli closes and also wins the victory. First San Marino victory of the weekend.

GARA3 – The last match of the series goes up and down. It is irregular, with various favorable moments alternating between one team and the other. Our team seems in control with the two points scored between 2nd and 3rd. After three innings without conceding any points, in the 4th De Leon was in difficulty and the guests took advantage of the situation to turn the result around with four scores. You get on base in series. The initial doubles by Aloma and Mercuri for the 1-2, the single by Giordani, the base by Cinelli and the rebound by Luciani for the 2-2. Not only that, because on the hit of the pinch-hitter Function here are also the two points of the 4-2 Bsc.

San Marino immediately gets one back starting from a two-out situation with the bases empty. He does it with the base in Pieternella, Lopez’s single and above all Di Fabio’s internal hit for the 3-4. BSC reestablishes the distance and takes the lead at 5-3 in the top of the 5th following a defensive error.

In the bottom of the 5th, however, everything changes, with Celli and his teammates putting in a big inning of 7 points. Sireus, having just entered, eliminates Angulo but grants the base to Alvarez and the single to Diaz. For Celli there is a great double on the left which means 4-5 and substitution on the mound, with Barreto for Sireus. The third pitcher from Grosseto concedes the base to Pieternella and above all is hit hard by Lopez with the overtaking single (6-5).

However, there is still balance, in the score and in the facts. And then, to break it, Jiandido Tromp takes care of it, who after the base to Di Fabio hits his second home run of the evening, this time for four runs. It’s a grand slam that sends the team up 10-5 and galvanizes them enormously ahead of the final.

In the 6th it is Federico Celli who sends it out of the fences (11-5) and San Marino flies away. Kourtis no longer has any problems and the team wins an important victory that lifts them alone to the top of the rankings.

Halftime show: Fifa is planning an event like in football at the next World Cup final

Published

In American football, the halftime show has long been part of the event. Appearances during the break have not been an issue in football so far – but that will change at the next World Cup.

Anyone who goes to the toilet or refills chips during half-time at the next World Cup final will miss something: As the world football association Fifa announces, from the next World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico there will be a half-time show in the final. What exactly the association is planning is still very vaguely worded in the announcement. FIFA is probably planning a musical performance modeled on the Superbowl in American football: This so-called half time show is probably the biggest stage that musicians have had so far. In recent years, megastars such as Coldplay, Rihanna and Bruno Mars have appeared at halftime.

FIFA wants to organize a halftime show together with an aid organization

Global Citizen acts as co-organizer. The aid organization is committed to combating extreme poverty around the world. “FIFA has made it its mission to promote football in all countries of the world and thereby have a positive influence on society,” explains the controversial FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Through this partnership, FIFA, together with Global Citizen, will unite the world of sports and entertainment to actively contribute to a better world. “We are committed to a series of joint actions that promote access to the game and encourage fans to advocate for positive change in their local communities,” Infantino continued. However, the association leaves it open exactly how a halftime show during the World Cup final should support Global Citizen or combat poverty in the world. “Eventization” of football is met with rejection in Germany

If FIFA presents an act as big as the NFL at the Superbowl, the football halftime show would actually immediately be in the same league as its US counterparts. In the USA, the show is one of the absolute highlights of the football final. It remains to be seen whether such a show will be received so positively by football fans who are more used to a simpler presentation of their sport.

In Europe and especially in Germany, the organized fan scene is extremely critical of the additional commercialization and “eventization” of sport. A resonant example is Helene Fischer’s act before the 2017 DFB Cup final. The artist was booed so mercilessly and loudly during her short appearance that her singing on the television was difficult to understand at times.

Difficult to find two courses as dissimilar as those of Ugo Humbert and Arthur Fils at the ATP 500 in Tokyo, but the rectilinear trajectory of the first will still cross the fractured line of the second, in the final, this Tuesday. Despite losing his first set of the week, Humbert (19th in the world) qualified without too much difficulty by beating Tomas Machac (54th) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. After having fought like a madman to eliminate Taylor Fritz and especially Ben Shelton, Son went through two tie-breaks with forceps to subdue Holger Rune. One wanders, the other suffers, but we will be treated to a happy ending. Even with a seven-hour time difference with France, this is a pleasure that we won’t shy away from.
