Euro 2024: Swiss national team travels to Euro matches most frequently by train

Two weeks after the start of the European Football Championship, Deutsche Bahn has drawn a positive interim assessment of the transport of fans and participants. Six million passengers have traveled on Deutsche Bahn’s long-distance trains alone since the start of the tournament on June 14, the company announced. In addition, hundreds of thousands travel on regional and suburban trains every day. Deutsche Bahn counted 100,000 additional passengers per match day at the stations in the host cities. In addition, 120,000 liters of beer have been sold in the on-board restaurants since the opening match.

Several national teams also used the trains to travel to their European Championship matches. According to the company, the Swiss national team took five train journeys to the venue. The Romanian team took four journeys, Georgia and the Czech Republic each took two. The teams from Poland, Belgium and the Netherlands each took the train once.

In the first days of the European Championship, many passengers complained about delayed and overcrowded trains. Foreign media, such as the New York Times or the British Daily Mail, were disappointed by the problems in view of clichés about Germany’s punctuality and good organisation.

“Unreliable and red hot”

Fan groups also complained, including an association of Scottish supporters (Atac). Germany had given them a warm welcome as host, Atac wrote in a Facebook post. However, they had had “bad experiences” with public transport. The trains in Munich and Cologne were “unreliable and sweltering hot” and were also packed with passengers beyond any kind of limit.

Even officials were not spared from the disruptions. Tournament director Philipp Lahm, for example, missed half of the Ukraine-Slovakia match because his train was delayed. The railway company has also admitted to problems and promised to improve. READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>

Roberto De Zerbi Implements Two Groups at OM: Clauss Among Unwanted Players

Published

Roberto De Zerbi is not being too picky and has decided to create two groups at OM. The undesirables train separately, and Jonathan Clauss will be part of this group of players pushed out when he returns from vacation.

Do not talk about a “loft” to the leaders of Olympique de Marseille. In the eyes of the Olympian leaders, this is not the case, but in fact, Roberto De Zerbi has indeed created two groups within his squad. Since taking office, the former Sassuolo coach has been proceeding in a very simple manner during his training sessions. His entire squad takes part in warm-ups and physical exercises and when it comes to working on his tactical principles, a group of undesirables is set aside while the rest of the squad receives instructions from Roberto De Zerbi. Key players from previous years have been placed in what looks very much like a loft: Chancel Mbemba, Pau Lopez and Jordan Veretout, who are all invited to find a new club during this summer transfer window.

Currently on vacation after playing Euro 2024 with the French national team, Jonathan Clauss will also be placed in the group of unwanted players according to the newspaper L’Equipe. Indeed, the national daily reveals that Roberto De Zerbi does not intend to rely on the French international, who only has one year left on his contract, and that Mehdi Benatia had already tried to sell six months ago. L’Equipe also recalls in its edition of the day that the unwanted players retain access to the locker room as well as their usual place and that Roberto De Zerbi’s staff is at their disposal if necessary.

Roberto De Zerbi does not count on Clauss

But as is the case in several clubs, this loft clearly aims to convince reluctant players to pack their bags by focusing on the fact that the coach does not count on them at all to the point of not even wanting to see them in action. It should also be noted that Geoffrey Kondogbia and Azzedine Ounahi are among the players that OM will not retain in the event of a good offer during the transfer window. But unlike the players mentioned above in the article, the former defensive midfielder of Atlético de Madrid and the Moroccan international are training 100% with the group led by Roberto De Zerbi. Proof that for them, the door is not closed. On the contrary, Jonathan Clauss is more than ever invited to pack his bags and find a new project. After winning a couple of matches (including one at Wimbledon) in the short interlude of the grass-court season, Luciano Darderi returns to his beloved clay and wins immediately on his debut in theATP 500 in Amburgo continuing his fantastic 2024. The Italian-Argentine won 6-1 2-6 6-0 over the Dominican lucky loser Nick Hardt, earning his ticket to the round of 16.

In the next round, the Italian, ready to face the Olympic Games in Paris in a couple of weeks, will face the Kazakh Alexander Shevchenko as favourite. Darderi, n.35 in the world after the last update of the ranking, He has already collected 25 ATP points and would be virtually 33rdthus improving his best ranking (34), however other players competing in various tournaments this week will have the chance to surpass him by winning one or more matches.

In case of victory over Shevchenko, our standard-bearer would get even closer to the top 30 of the ranking, while to break through that barrier he would most likely need the semifinal in the German event. Reaching the final act in Hamburg would project him to 25th or at least just close to the world top 25, while with the conquest of the title he would become 24th or (in the worst case) 25th in the ATP ranking.
