He was born in Ciudad Mante, Tamaulipas, but from the age of four Monterrey became his home; Today, at 17, Luis Patricio Gomez He is of royal blood and tiger skin, looking to fulfill a great dream and everything indicates that he is on the right path.

And in a few more years, Luis Patricio could be the new Nahuel Guzmán in Tigres; Patón is 38, but it is predicted that he can still perform well for another three or four years, during which time the young feline youth squad would be getting ready to be his successor.

Gómez has been demonstrating his quality between the three sticks, to the point of being part of the Bayern World Squad 2024, the program carried out by Bayern Munich to see young prospects from all over the world.

During this Saturday, June 29, the final match of this reality show will take place, in which the players of the program will face Bayern Munich Sub 19; At the end of this edition, the Bávaro club could select some talent to be part of its club.

It would be a great achievement for Gómez to be chosen, because although his dream is to debut with Tigres, one day being part of a European team is also on his mind; For now, Luis Patricio is assured that if he returns with Tigres, he will participate in the Apertura 2024 in the Under 19 category of the Liga MX.

This is how Gómez has prepared

Since he was four years old, Luis Patricio already showed his love for football; but it was at the age of eight (in 2015) that he joined his school’s football academy, beginning his adventure as a central defender.

However, being a goalkeeper would be his destiny, since the team’s goalkeeper stopped attending the games and Luis Patricio was chosen by the coach for being the tallest player, so he participated as a goalkeeper in 7-a-side football competitions organized by the CECAFF Cumbres league in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

In these tournaments, Gómez stood out as one of the goalkeepers with the fewest goals conceded and also excelled with goals, as he surprised with his punch from midfield; He even scored goals from goal to goal.

He loved the goalkeeper position so much that with the support of his parents, he was enrolled in the Chivas – Cumbres soccer school, participating in local tournaments, National tournaments and the McAllen Atlas Tournament, from June 2018 to December 2019.

Personalized preparation

Gomez’s dream has been a goal that he has firmly held, so he decided to take training sessions independent of schools, where they would teach him techniques to be a great goalkeeper. This would help him in November 2019, when he was invited to goalkeeping trials for Tigres’ youth teams, and he was chosen to be part of the U-13, with which he attended a tour in February 2020. Not the whole story was rosy, because when the covid-19 pandemic broke out, the category was suspended, so there were only training sessions, which were sometimes from home due to restrictions; Once activities were restored, in Apertura 2021 he was part of the Felines’ Sub 14, earning ownership.

In November 2021 he was called up to the tour of Spain with the Mexican Under 16 National Team, in which he continued to be called to the concentrations in 2022. At the same time, he remained the starting goalkeeper of the Tigres Under 14 team; He even played in the Adidas Cup tournament in Dallas, Texas that year.

Key piece in the feline quarry

At the beginning of 2023, Tigres registered him in the TDP League, playing a total of 17 games with 1,440 minutes; Already in the second semester, in the Apertura of that same year, he participated as the starting goalkeeper of the Under 16 category, playing 10 league games with 900 minutes. His category was also present in the SuperCupNI in Ireland, a tournament in which the final was played, and Gómez stood out by saving a penalty.

While in the Clausura 2024 in the Under 16, Luis Patricio participated as a starting goalkeeper playing 11 games with a total of 990 minutes; In addition, in March he was part of the team that played the Dallas Cup Category U17, becoming champion.

Roce international

When the 2024 Under-16 Clausura ended, Gómez was called up by the national team for the 2024 Canteras de América Tournament in the city of Rosario, Argentina, where he participated in three matches.

Then came his call to the Bayern World Squad, on May 27, being the youngest of three goalkeepers selected. In this reality show, Gómez along with another feline, Luis Ibarra, as well as Nicholas Ontiveros, are the only Mexicans in this talent show.

Halftime show: Fifa is planning an event like in football at the next World Cup final

Published

In American football, the halftime show has long been part of the event. Appearances during the break have not been an issue in football so far – but that will change at the next World Cup.

Anyone who goes to the toilet or refills chips during half-time at the next World Cup final will miss something: As the world football association Fifa announces, from the next World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico there will be a half-time show in the final. What exactly the association is planning is still very vaguely worded in the announcement. FIFA is probably planning a musical performance modeled on the Superbowl in American football: This so-called half time show is probably the biggest stage that musicians have had so far. In recent years, megastars such as Coldplay, Rihanna and Bruno Mars have appeared at halftime.

FIFA wants to organize a halftime show together with an aid organization

Global Citizen acts as co-organizer. The aid organization is committed to combating extreme poverty around the world. “FIFA has made it its mission to promote football in all countries of the world and thereby have a positive influence on society,” explains the controversial FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Through this partnership, FIFA, together with Global Citizen, will unite the world of sports and entertainment to actively contribute to a better world. “We are committed to a series of joint actions that promote access to the game and encourage fans to advocate for positive change in their local communities,” Infantino continued. However, the association leaves it open exactly how a halftime show during the World Cup final should support Global Citizen or combat poverty in the world. “Eventization” of football is met with rejection in Germany

If FIFA presents an act as big as the NFL at the Superbowl, the football halftime show would actually immediately be in the same league as its US counterparts. In the USA, the show is one of the absolute highlights of the football final. It remains to be seen whether such a show will be received so positively by football fans who are more used to a simpler presentation of their sport.

In Europe and especially in Germany, the organized fan scene is extremely critical of the additional commercialization and “eventization” of sport. A resonant example is Helene Fischer’s act before the 2017 DFB Cup final. The artist was booed so mercilessly and loudly during her short appearance that her singing on the television was difficult to understand at times.

Difficult to find two courses as dissimilar as those of Ugo Humbert and Arthur Fils at the ATP 500 in Tokyo, but the rectilinear trajectory of the first will still cross the fractured line of the second, in the final, this Tuesday. Despite losing his first set of the week, Humbert (19th in the world) qualified without too much difficulty by beating Tomas Machac (54th) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. After having fought like a madman to eliminate Taylor Fritz and especially Ben Shelton, Son went through two tie-breaks with forceps to subdue Holger Rune. One wanders, the other suffers, but we will be treated to a happy ending. Even with a seven-hour time difference with France, this is a pleasure that we won’t shy away from.
