No Going Back On N250,000 Minimum Wage

The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has insisted on the N250,000 minimum wage for workers in the country.

The TUC president, Festus Osifo, on Tuesday, disclosed this at the inaugural Annual Convention of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Women Commission in Abuja, themed “The Dynamic Woman: Navigating Challenges in a Constantly Evolving World.”

Osifo also stated that TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress were meeting with officials of the Federal Government to reach an agreement on the minimum wage.

The Federal Government and Organised Private Sector have agreed on N62,000 as the new minimum wage, but labour is insisting on N250, 000. READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>

According to him, “Negotiations on the new minimum wage have not been abandoned, rather labour and the government were fine-tuning the matter.

“The minimum wage negotiations cannot be dead. The 2019 minimum wage (that has expired) took about two years to see the light of day. We started the negotiations in 2017.

“We promised you when we started in January (this year) that we will ensure this one is fast – tracked for us not to be in the conundrum that we were in 2019 which took two years,” the TUC president stated.

“So where we are today, we submitted the divergent position in June, when we did that you know clearly that Mr. President came out to say that he wanted to consult across board which is the governors, Local Government chairmen, organised private sector, and labour, so we are doing some level of reach-out and conversations.

“So that what will be submitted to the National Assembly will actually be a minimum wage that will cater for the poorest of the poor, so for the fact that in the media we are not shouting, we are doing some level of internal work so that this bill will be submitted in earnest soon. We still insist on the N250,000 benchmark as ideal minimum wage,” Osifo stated.

I’m Selling My House to Get Rid of My Stepchildren

Blending families with stepchildren can present unique obstacles that test patience, love, and personal space. For one man in particular, the pressure had become so strong that dramatic measures appeared to be the only option…Click Here To Continue Reading>> …Click Here To Continue Reading>>

He explained what happened.

My wife passed away in November 2022. She left me three adult stepchildren, all of whom have made it clear that I am not their parent despite being in their lives for more than ten years. Their father retired to the Philippines.

They are 21, 22, and 25. Their mother and I have been assisting them in finding a place to reside due to the high expense of living in our city. The youngest is still in school, but the other two have jobs.

After their mother passed away, they stopped doing anything around the house. We had been charging no rent to help them save money. Aside from that, the elder two were responsible for paying their own bills. I paid for electricity, water, Internet, and all utilities. We even fed the youngest.

Now they do nothing to help around the house. I have had to hire a cleaning lady to help. It’s stupid.

So I placed my house up for sale. The price has risen so much since I purchased it that I could retire to the Philippines if that is my preference. READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>

It took no time to sell, and I’m moving to my cabin. I gave each youngster $10,000 and informed them that the house had sold. They are not idiots; they saw the for sale sign and attended the open houses.

They are now furious with me because I kicked them out of their house. I suppose they did some of their growing up there, but they never treated it as anything more than a place to sleep.

I believe their mother would be disgusted by how they treated me and our house.

They pooled their money and got an apartment, but if they rely solely on the money I gave them, they will have nothing in a year.
